When was the first Outlaugh?
The first Outlaugh was in July 2005 and ran four nights. Mike Player collaborated with Leo Garcia, Artistic Director at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica, and Jerry Calumn. It was hosted by Lea DeLaria. There was a film “Outlaugh!” made of the event.

When was the second Outlaugh?
The second Outlaugh ran for 3 nights in October 2006 at the Renberg Theater in Hollywood. Outlaugh 2006 was hosted by Margaret Cho and was made into an 8-episode TV series, “The Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack” for MTV’s LOGO network. The series aired continuously for 3 years.

When was the third Outlaugh?
The third Outlaugh ran for 3 nights in March 2009. Outlaugh 2009 was held in 3 U.S. cities simultaneously (LA, NYC, and Lake Tahoe) Mike Player collaborated with Bob Montgomery at Gotham Comedy Club, Erin Foley at the Hollywood Improv, and Kevin Ray at Lake Tahoe WinterFest. There is no theatrical film of ’09. It was solely a live event. It is remembered in legends.

Isn’t Outlaugh missing a few years?
Yes. There were no Outlaughs in ’07, ‘08 or ’10. We were tied up with LOGO in ‘07. LOGO changed their execs and despite high viewership we did not get renewed. In ’08 and ’10 Outlaugh was tied up with the economic downturn. Although we think the lack of Outlaughs during those years caused the economic downturn.

What’s up with Outlaugh 2011? Sounds like it’s been bouncing around.
In 2011, Outlaugh has the sponsorship of the Marketing and Tourism Board of West Hollywood and of the City of West Hollywood. Our goal is to create an annual live festival based in West Hollywood which grows in size each year. The festival will include many forms of comedy, as well as workshops for the public, awards, book signings, and panels. It will be a place where dreams come true.
